Midnight blue, saphire blue would look better on something more sporty but midnight is classy on a big heavy car.

Painting is an expensive pain in the ass.
I wouldn't worry about it so long as the car has character.

Whichever color leaves you with enough money for new struts and springs.

Ok, don't get me wrong, I fucking love the murdersofa and everything about it (the fact that you autoX it means you are clearly a god), but why not save your cash and buy a better car, instead of putting all of this money into it?

They cost the exact same. I'm planning on painting this spring, struts and sway bar are a winter project.

People keep saying this, and my answer is the same:
I've spent less than $500 on this car. Compare this to the $4000+ to buy what I would want for my next car. This combined with lolcollege means that an expenditure that size isn't in the cars for another year at least, and I can't go that much longer with this damn PlastiDip. It was a fun idea, I get looks and people asking about it all the time, but this is Kansas. It's dusty here. Ask JayhawkJake; having a black car in this state is hell. Even worse when it is matte black and actively sucks up dust from everywhere in a mile vicinity.
In the grand scheme of things, $200 or so for a paint job is practically nothing. $160 for new suspension? Peanuts, and will make me much happier with my car.
Also, girls don't dig the matte black. Car guys get it, girls think it's "creepy".

A new car isn't in the cards for another year at the least, so I've got to try to grin and bear it. Doing shit like this keeps me happy.

Fair, but be careful not to pillage the new car fund in the name of happiness too often. I like the Midnight Blue personally.

What about a "Matte" Blue with Red wheels? You could do a modern bodied "Rat Rod".
If I had to choose from the two, I'd go Midnight. It'd be a proper color for a Buick.

Sapphire Blue looks like a more unique color.
Are you going to put a stripe back on when it's re-painted?

Probably, but I doubt it'll be red. Maybe a muted silver or gold color.

Silver would have great contrast on the Sapphire, no doubt.
Would it get a glossy clear coat?

Supposedly this stuff is single-stage and doesn't need clear coat, just goes on glossy. Probably takes quite a few coats, though.

I would be careful with that. I mean, my Neon is now wrecked and I never took pictures of the paint finish, but it looked like when the hood was replaced last year after a deer strike, the new hood got a single stage paint job, and what happened was the edges were actually getting chipped really easily, so if you looked along the leading edge of the hood, there were a lot of dings that seemed to go pretty far down. No longer a problem, but certainly an issue if you're looking to have a single stage paint finish done. I know paint is expensive to have done, but a clear coat (or two) could help protect the finish from dings. The Neon paint was less than a year old and showing the dings very early on.
